Occoquan Greenway Trail – Short Reroute on Segment 3

Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition has organized another workday. Project involves a short trail reroute on Segment 3 of the Occoquan Greenway Trail.

Volunteers will be installing a 16-ft wooden bridge over a stream channel.  The purpose is to reroute the trail away from a consistently wet area onto higher ground for a better hiking and biking experience.

The work will consist of opening the new trail route by raking, clipping branches, and removing downed branches.  For the bridge, we’ll build the supporting frame, secure it in place, and install the treads.

This was originally planned as a public event on May 23, but weather forced a revision in plans. Now a small group will tackle the project on a Monday.
