With over 100 miles of trails throughout the Greater Prince William County (Va.) where does the new walker and hiker begin? One local club may have a good place for you to start. After all as the Commonwealth's newest state motto says, "Virginia Is for Walking Lovers." "Volksmarching" or "people's walking" is a non-competitive social walking and biking activity that is hosted nationally by the American Volkssport Association which is also known now as "America's Walking Club." Started in 1976, the local club, the Wood and Dale Wanderers is one of over 200 in the USA. This year the club is celebrating its 35th anniversary as Prince William County's host for trail walking. The club has 5 and 10 kilometer routes picked out in throughout the county. Using the existing trails in Locus Shade County Park, in Leesylvania State Park, and in the Prince William Forest Park (National Park Service), there are trail paths that accommodate all ages and abilities.
